The Government fees of Japan Patent Office is revised (details are shown in the below tables) and will come into force from April 1, 2022. 

With this revision, official fees for maintaining a patent right will be increased. 

From a viewpoint of cost-saving, if a patent right is wished to be remained, it is recommended to do maintenance procedure in the JPO as soon as possible before the revised fees come into force from April 1st,2022.

In addition, it is recommended to consider the procedure for waiving unnecessary claims before carrying out the maintenance procedure, since maintenance fee for a patent right in the JPO is calculated depending on the number of claims and the age of the right.
